Water scarcity eradication program

Name of the project- Various sub-projects to alleviate potential water shortages such as drilling wells, supplying water through tankers, acquiring wells, repairing piped water supply schemes, etc.

Period Commencement-October to June (per year)

Period Start-end of June

Area- Deprivation-stricken villages and hamlets in rural and remote areas

As per the Ground Water Act, the Ground Water Survey and Development Agency should prepare a potential water scarcity report based on the study of rainfall and groundwater level in the observation well and submit it to the Hon. District Collector for declaration of potential water scarcity areas. As per the government decision of 3 February 1999 and as per the government decisions of 27 February 2008 and 25 October 2008, all the Gram Panchayats should study the situation in the village and submit a resolution on whether there is water scarcity or not. In this resolution, measures should be proposed to alleviate water scarcity. The Rural Water Supply Department, Z.P. should scrutinize the resolution and prepare a period-wise, village-wise, and solution-wise potential water scarcity action plan. Obtain the approval of the Hon. District Collector for the potential water scarcity plan. The villages included in the plan should be surveyed by a geologist and the administrative approval of the Hon. District Collector should be obtained as per the recommendations made in Form B. Hon. The remedial plans are implemented after receiving administrative approval from the District Collector.

Benefits – The villagers do not have to face water shortages as the water scarcity alleviation program is already planned to provide drinking water to the potentially scarcity affected areas.
